Behavioural consultations can also be helpful for smaller pets.
We have worked with a broad range of animals, so no matter the type of pet you have, we can help if you are experiencing behavioural issues.
Some animals we can help with include:
Dan has worked with a range of wild animals in zoos and private collections, so If your specific pet isn't listed here, please feel free to get in touch.
Before any training plans begin, we ask that you get a referral from your vet. This is to ensure that any behavioural issues you are experiencing with your pet are not due to health conditions. A form will be sent to you, which you need to fill out and get your veterinary practice to sign.
This is very important!
Any health problems, trivial or serious, can impact your pet's behaviour and negatively affect any training plans so it is VITAL that your vet confirms your pet is healthy and able to carry out training or behaviour modification.
You can download our vet referral form here.
Additional hour-long appointments can be made once the appointments in your package have ended. These appointments are charged at £50 flat rate.
Payments on packages can be made in advance of your first appointment via BACS or PayPal. If discussed in advance, you can also pay in person during the consultation appointment. We can only guarantee the following payment options:
Additional sessions must be paid in full at least 48 hours prior to the session taking place.
Appointments are usually held 14 days apart. This allows you to become used to the training plan/behavioural modification and give your pet time to adjust.
We can schedule appointments at later dates but no more than 10 weeks apart. Failure to book an appointment within this time will mean the appointment is forfeit and non-refundable.
Please try to book appointments in a timely manner so we can ensure that you and your pet are seen on a regular basis.
Wiser Whiskers requires at least 72 hours' notice if an owner needs to cancel or change an appointment.
Cancellations can be arranged via phone, email, or text. Please make sure when cancelling that you include correct details of the appointment you wish to cancel and your name/pet's name etc. You can also let us know here if you'd like to rebook the appointment.
If Wiser Whiskers needs to cancel an appointment, we will offer you an alternative solution (via video call if required), an appointment on another date or a refund for the cost of the session within 14 days. Refunds in this case will be made via the original payment method. Cancellations by Wiser Whiskers will be made via phone, email or text.
We will endeavour to rearrange any appointments cancelled due to adverse weather conditions, covid-19 restrictions etc.
Further details on our cancellation process can be found in our terms and conditions.
Behavioural consultations and appointments will be carried out in accordance with the government advice at the time. It is Wiser Whiskers' policy to keep our staff and clients safe by ensuring that anyone (staff or clients) suspected of experiencing covid-19 symptoms do not take part in appointments.
To keep everyone safe, we do have some guidelines of our own which we ask clients to consider.
Before consultations or appointments, we will ask clients if they or anyone in their household is currently experiencing covid-19 symptoms. If so, we will switch that appointment to a video call (or rebook for a later date if preferred). This is now part of our terms and conditions.
The trainer attending an appointment reserves the right at any time to rebook an appointment if they feel information about a current covid-19 infection has been withheld when they attend an appointment. Trainers attending appointments will likely wear a face covering and will take lateral flow tests before each appointment to ensure your safety. If a trainer tests positive or is showing signs of covid-19 before an appointment, that appointment will be rearranged.
